The M:Tech course is designed to unlock, nurture and recognise creativity in all children.
Active & Immersive
M:Tech lessons are designed to be active, immersive and highly creative, giving learners the confidence to explore ideas while developing real musical understanding. Through structured weekly projects, children explore concepts such as melody, harmony, rhythm, basslines and arrangement, learning how modern music is created, developed and produced.
We believe children learn best through active, hands-on creativity. M:Tech lessons are designed around guided, practical learning, encouraging learners to explore musical ideas, experiment with sound and develop confidence through creating their own original work.
Project-based
Each term, learners complete a creative multimedia project, composing original music and soundtracks for themes such as movie trailers, TV adverts, animation, radio and video games. Projects are carefully structured to develop core musical, creative and production skills through engaging, hands-on learning.
As part of their M:Tech journey, learners build a portfolio of original work term-by-term that reflects their creativity, musical understanding and progression over time. At the end of each term, children receive a download of their finished project alongside a certificate recognising their achievement.
Creativity officially recognised
As the official Creative Partner of ABRSM, M:Tech learners now work towards the new Creative Musicianship qualification as part of their journey. The pathway formally recognises composition, music production and creative musical thinking within a structured educational framework, helping young learners build confidence, develop original ideas and create a growing portfolio of work over time.
This Ofqual-regulated qualification uses non-exam-based assessment, centred around creativity, reflection and practical music-making. Learners develop and submit portfolios of original work in a low-pressure, highly creative environment that encourages experimentation, expression and independent thinking.
A new immersive music-making experience
With the development of our new MyM:Tech at-home platform, learners can continue exploring their creativity beyond the classroom while further developing the musical and creative skills introduced during lessons.
Much like practising an instrument at home, MyM:Tech encourages regular musical exploration and independent learning, giving children the opportunity to build confidence, experiment with ideas and continue creating in their own time.
“We believe every child has creative ability. Our mission is to unlock that creativity in a musical way and encourage them to thrive”
