We arrive & set up
Your M:Tech creative arrives with ID and enhanced DBS documentation, bringing all the equipment needed for the session. We set everything up, ready to go.

Opportunity
M:Tech is a structured creative composition and music technology course, giving children the opportunity to make and develop their own original music. Sessions can begin in small groups at lunchtimes before expanding into the school day, complementing your existing music provision and creating another meaningful way for pupils to engage with music.
Accessibility
No previous instrumental or music technology experience is required to take part in M:Tech. Children work collaboratively using equipment we provide, exploring composition through films, games, animation and other engaging multimedia projects. This creates an accessible route into music for pupils who may not otherwise choose traditional instrumental lessons. We also include a free place for every 10 pupils enrolled, alongside a matched bursary scheme to help schools widen access further where cost may otherwise be a barrier.
Recognition
Creativity deserves meaningful recognition. M:Tech is proud to be an ABRSM Creative Partner, and children enrolled on the course automatically work towards ABRSM Creative Musicianship qualifications through their regular M:Tech lessons. This exam-free pathway recognises practical creative skills and gives learners nationally recognised musical progression.

Musical progression
Behind every M:Tech project is structured musical learning. As children progress through the course, they develop their understanding of rhythm, pitch, harmony, structure, mood and emotion by applying these concepts directly to their own compositions. Learners receive certificates, build a portfolio of finished music on MyMTech and progress through ABRSM Creative Musicianship alongside the M:Tech course.

For some children, the assembly will build on a love of music they already have. For others, it could be the first time they see themselves as someone capable of creating it.

Tomorrow’s Music Makers...Today
M:Tech is a structured music technology and composition course that teaches children to create their own original music through engaging projects based around films, games, animation and other media. Learners explore the techniques used by professional composers while developing their understanding of rhythm, harmony, structure, mood and emotion.
Lessons are collaborative, inclusive and designed to build creativity, musical understanding and confidence over time. Schools can initially offer M:Tech through small-group lunchtime sessions alongside their existing music provision. We provide the equipment and employed teaching team, while managing parent registration, communication and billing.
Each learner’s finished composition is uploaded to MyMTech, where they can listen back, share their work and track their progress. Learners receive certificates throughout the course and work towards ABRSM Creative Musicianship qualifications as part of their regular M:Tech lessons.
